Albrecht Dürer was a prominent painter and engraver of the German Renaissance. He was born on May 21, 1471, in Nuremberg, Germany, and died on April 6, 1528. Dürer is known for his technical skill and his ability to portray with detail and realism. In addition to his famous Self-Portrait with Gloves, Dürer created numerous masterpieces, including The Hare, Melencolia I, and Adam and Eve.
