The church of Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois is an example of Gothic style. It was built in two stages, with the facade and the rear part, including the choir, dating from the 13th century, while the porch and the naves were added in the 15th century. The octagonal bell tower with multiple faces, the pinnacles, the rose window, and the porch filled with lights and shadows give the church a note of joyful fantasy. It is also notable that the church bells announced the beginning of the Saint Bartholomew's Day Massacre in 1572.
