Giuseppe Patricolo (1834-1905), Palermo-born architect and restorer, rediscovered Sicilian monumental heritage. A preserver of art, he restored churches such as San Francesco d'Assisi, San Cataldo, and Santo Spirito in Palermo, and the church of Santissima Trinità di Delia in Castelvetrano. He served as the architect of the Royal House and a university professor. He was the artistic director and head of the royal offices for monument conservation in Sicily from 1884 to 1905.
