Ignazio Francesco Marabitti (Palermo, 1719-1797) was one of the most prominent Sicilian sculptors. After his training in Rome in the workshop of Filippo della Valle, he began his career as a sculptor in Syracuse. In Palermo, he received important commissions from the clergy and the aristocracy. In 1778, he created the Fountain of Villa Giulia, one of the eight monumental representations of the Genio di Palermo.
