The Odeion of Pompeii is a smaller theater than the Teatro Grande, but it is extremely fascinating for its decoration. It was built around 79 BC and was mainly used for musical performances and poetic recitations. The structure consisted of a rectangular stage with a vaulted roof, above which was an open terrace that could accommodate up to 1,500 people. The Odeion was decorated with wall frescoes and mosaic floors, which can still be seen today. Despite its smaller size than the Teatro Grande, the Odeion was certainly a place of great cultural importance for the citizens of Pompeii.
