The Insula Occidentalis of Pompeii is a vast complex of buildings located between Porta Marina and Porta Ercolano. This area hosts several domus, such as that of Marco Fabio Rufo and the Golden Bracelet. The domus of the Insula Occidentalis were built close to the walls of Pompeii, sometimes incorporating them, and also extended outside the city walls. These homes offered splendid environments and gardens arranged in terraces towards the sea, with magnificent green spaces and fountains. The dwellings were built on four levels, unlike the other domus of Pompeii which only had two floors. The rooms of the house overlooked large terraces, enriched with mosaic floors and frescoes on the walls.
