The Castellum Aquae of Pompeii was a structure located in Regio VI of the ancient city. Built at the highest point of the city, it had a basin for collecting water coming from the Serino aqueduct. The water was then conveyed to fountains, spas and private users. Despite the imposing structure, the damage to the water network caused by the earthquake and the seismic swarm preceding the eruption of Vesuvius had interrupted the flow.
