The Basilica of Maxentius is an ancient building in the Roman Forum of Rome, Italy. It was built during the reign of the Roman emperor Maxentius in the 4th century AD. Although originally believed to be a civil basilica, today it is thought to have been a basilica of mixed use, serving both legal and religious matters. The basilica is known for its large size and its impressive ruins, which include three enormous arches.
