Filippo Brunelleschi was an Italian Renaissance architect who was born in 1377 and died in 1446. He is credited with the invention of perspective technique in painting and was one of the pioneers in Renaissance architecture in Florence. His most notable work is the dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, Italy, which is considered one of the great wonders of architecture. Brunelleschi was also known for his mathematical and geometric approach in architectural design and for being an innovator in the use of the barrel vault and the round arch.
