the cardinal and theological virtues

2.34

The cardinal virtues are a set of four fundamental virtues considered the foundation of all other virtues. These are prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance. Prudence refers to the ability to make correct decisions and act wisely. Justice refers to acting with fairness and treating everyone equitably. Fortitude refers to the ability to face challenges and pursue good with courage. Temperance refers to moderation and self-control in the use of pleasures and desires. On the other hand, theological virtues are three supernatural virtues infused by God that help us relate to Him. These are faith, hope, and charity. Faith allows us to believe in God and His revelation. Hope gives us confidence in eternal life and God's promises. Charity refers to the perfect love we should have towards God and our neighbor. In relation to the mentioned text, Saint Francis of Assisi is known for his deep connection and love for nature and animals, which could be attributed to the theological virtue of charity, which involves loving and caring for all of God's creation.
