Saint Cecilia was a Roman noblewoman and Christian martyr, who died in 230 AD. She is the patron saint of music and musicians. Celebrated on November 22nd, she is one of the seven saints mentioned in the Canon of the Mass. The Basilica of Saint Cecilia in Trastevere is the main place of worship dedicated to her, dating back to the early days of Christianity, and inspired Cecilianism, a movement for the reform of sacred music in the 19th century.
