Ocean Park is divided into two large areas, Waterfront and Summit, and into seven themed areas.

I suggest you try out the different transportation options in the park, because they’re an experience in themselves: a 225-meter escalator links Marine World with Adventure Land, and a spectacular cable car that takes visitors from Waterfront to Summit.

If you’re not so keen on heights, you can take the same trip on the Ocean Express funicular, and experience a simulation of an adventurous journey under the sea.

In some areas of the park, you’ll find reproductions of different natural habitats.

In the “Amazing Asian Animals” area, you can have a close encounter with some splendid birds of prey, rare Asian birds, otters and specimens of a number of species that are almost extinct, such as the Chinese alligator, the giant salamander, the giant panda and the red panda.

At “Aqua City”, you’ll find typical Australian animals, such as the koala, the red-necked wallaby and the delightful kookaburra bird.

Another inhabitant of the Park in need of protection is the highly unusual golden snub-nosed monkey, a beautiful creature with a cute blue face.

The Grand Aquarium in this area is home to an impressive 5000 sea creatures of over 400 species, which you can see close-up by walking through the transparent underwater Reef Tunnel.

Before you enter the “Polar Adventure” area, I suggest you slip on a sweater, because temperatures range from 8 to 17 degrees centigrade. Here you’ll find animals that are used to the cold, such as the Arctic fox, massive walruses, seals and three species of penguins.

At “Marine World”, you’ll find areas dedicated to the Yangtze River habitat and to sharks, and two of the Park’s most exciting attractions: Ocean Theatre, with shows featuring dolphins and seals, and “Sea Jelly Spectacular”, home to a thousand or so jellyfish of various species with hugely engaging sound, visual and multimedia effects.

Here you’ll also find the reconstruction of a Rainforest, stretching along the Expedition Trail which takes you by toucans, poisonous frogs, capybaras and other little-known species typical of this humid environment.

One of the most beautiful natural environments you’ll find here is the Japanese-style Garden of Joy.

An interesting fact: the highest point of the Park is the 72-meter Ocean Park Tower, which is not just a simple tower, but a gently rotating room that offers spectacular views.
