Guarino Guarini was an Italian architect of the 17th century. He was known for his Baroque style and innovative approach to architectural design. In addition to being an architect, he was also a Theatine monk, philosopher, and mathematician. Guarini worked in several cities across Europe, including Messina, Paris, and the Iberian Peninsula, but he is particularly renowned for his works in Turin, where he left a significant mark on the city's architecture. Some of his most notable works include the domes of the Chapel of the Holy Shroud and the Church of San Lorenzo, as well as the Palazzo Carignano. Guarini stood out for his bold designs, such as the use of star-shaped and curved forms in his buildings, which gave Baroque architecture a unique and distinctive style.
