The Dubai Fountain is a magnificent fountain system at the foot of the Burj Khalifa, in the Burj Khalifa Lake.

It was built by the Californian company WET Design, which also created the fountain of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. It required a huge investment, but the result is truly superlative.

The artificial lake surrounding the fountain is marvelous in itself, with waters so crystal-clear it could be mistaken for a huge swimming pool. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to take a refreshing dip, but you can book a cruise lasting about half an hour aboard an abra, a typical boat of this area, and admire all the modern buildings around the lake.

The best place to admire the fountain is the Waterfront Promenade, outside the Dubai Mall, but you might also like to try a front-row seat for the show right on the 272-meter-long promenade that crosses the lake, coming within just 9 meters of the jets of water.

It is this incredible water show that makes the Dubai Fountain so special. Come and see for yourself between 6:00 and 11:00 p.m.! Every half hour, with a different melody each time, both Arabic and international, you can watch the jets of water that create exceptional choreographies to the rhythm of the music, illuminated by 6600 lights and 25 projectors. The jets of water dance along five circles arranged around a large arch.

As you watch in awe, marveling at the graceful movements of the water, just think of the power behind the mechanisms they’re generated by: the water can be shot up to a height of 150 meters, and there are times when the fountain sprays up to 83,000 liters of water – that’s 83 tons – at the same time!

If you watch the show from above, from one of the buildings surrounding the lake, you can follow the steps of the choreography down to the last detail, but even watching it as you have dinner in one of the restaurants on the banks of the lake is a thrilling experience.

Let me leave you with an interesting fact: the rays of light of the Dubai Fountain are visible from a distance of up to 32 kilometers.
