Costantino Brumidi was an Italian painter known for his contribution to decoration and mural painting in the United States. He was born in Italy in 1805 and emigrated to the United States in 1852. Brumidi is primarily known for his work in the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., where he painted numerous murals and frescoes. Some of his most famous works include the Apotheosis of Washington in the Capitol and the Signing of the United States Constitution.
